The Senior Solutions Architect works closely within the business and IT organization, other architects, and software engineers to ideate, design, and engineer software solutions. They are expected to help guide the architectural vision of LifeWay and have a keen interest in exploring and understanding new technologies/architectures. They are also expected to act as evangelists for that vision and work to spread it through the IT organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develops the architecture and design of software solutions within LifeWay that achieve the best customer value for business partners
  • Researches and assesses technologies, tools, and processes in the industry that are relevant to LifeWay architecture and business needs
  • Creates prototypes and models to demonstrate the applicability and value of new technologies to LifeWay
  • Assists engineers in developing software solutions based on defined architecture
  • Trains and mentors engineers in technologies involved in LifeWay software solutions
  • Pursues ongoing learning opportunities to strengthen skills
  • Ensures that business solutions have an enterprise and strategic perspective and support business and technical strategies

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related degree
  • 5-10 years experience with JVM based programming languages (Java, Scala, etc.)
  • 2-5 years experience with designing cloud native applications (AWS - EC2, Lambda functions, RDS, Azure)
  • Advanced knowledge of designing and developing APIs (RESTful APIs)
  • Experience with e-commerce solutions (elastic path, WCS)
  • Solid understanding of Linux
  • Experience with both relational and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, RDS, DynamoDB)
  • Experience with continuous integration/continuous deployment tooling (GoCD, Jenkins)
  • Agile development environment using SCRUM or Kanban
  • Excellent communication, presentation, influencing, negotiation and reasoning skills to earn support of business leaders, technology leaders, colleagues, and vendor representatives.

 

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of event-driven architectures
  • Knowledge of designing and building Reactive applications
  • Experience building apps or APIs with Play Framework (Java, Scala, Akka)
  • Experience with Node.js
  • Experience with the Serverless Framework
  • Knowledge of event buses including Kafka or Kinesis
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of Javascript frameworks (Angular, React.js)
  • Working knowledge of web-based technologies; HTTP, AJAX, HTML5, and CSS3
  • Knowledge of all levels of software testing (unit, integration, functional, performance)
  • AWS certifications
