    The Content Editor will have responsibility for editing assigned products to ensure the development of trustworthy content that leads to transformational experiences.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Roots the assigned products in Scripture and creates trustworthy content that is in agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message and conservative evangelical theology
    • Makes copyfitting decisions, responds to appraisal reader evaluations
    • Edits with sensitivity to potentially controversial issues; edits to ensure conservative evangelical theology
    • Receives author submissions and initiates payments
    • Generates original content as needed
    • Pursues the savvy by working with fellow team members to develop a design making it easier for church leaders 
    • Develops relationships with authors and procedure writers to train them and sharpen their skills 
    • Regularly engages in conversations with church leaders to listen, encourage, and discover ways to pursue the savvy as church practices are more fully understood and customer needs are discovered. 
    • Participates in ongoing team and/or department meetings, plus other duties as assigned 
    • Takes the initiative to participate in ongoing training 

    Qualifications

    • Three (3) years editorial experience or a combination of work and education
    • Three (3) years experience with editing and publishing softwares
    • Three (3) years experience in early childhood development and / or education, preschool ministry preferred
    • Demonstrated highly effective communication skills, especially written skills
    • Actively involved in evangelical Christian church community, SBC preferred

    Education Required

     Bachelor's degree - English, Communications, Theology, Early Childhood Development, or related field, preferred
