Overview

Do you have a heart for the Lord and a love for data? Does Excel reporting, spreadsheets, and providing data-driven information to leaders make your heart sing? We are hiring a Statistician for our Lifeway Research team! 

 

As a Statistician, you'll provide real world data to church leaders to fuel their ministries. In your role, you'll determine the best statistical methods for each research project, develop and perform descriptive analysis, predictive analysis and modeling. You'll manage research projects, write surveys, design sampling frames and develop data sets. You'll interpret data, propose practical applications,write research reports and offer research based advice for reports, articles, presentations and other communications. 

Responsibilities

As a Statistician for Lifeway Research you will:

  • Identify the information customers need and recommend research topics for Lifeway Research. Anticipate statistical needs, develop hypotheses to test and integrate knowledge obtained through statistics.
  • Determine the best statistical methods to apply to each set of data, including all sampling and weighting methods. Analyze primary data through a variety of means to identify patterns in the data (ie: descriptive and predictive analysis, bivariate and multivariate statistics, modeling, etc).
  • Design, administer and analyze surveys and questionnaires, including data scrubbing, creating databases and overseeing survey incentive programs
  • Champion the use of accurate and reliable statistical techniques throughout Lifeway. Ensure the accuracy of all statistics prior to their release to the public.
  • Interpret research findings and recommend actions for customers or church leaders so they can apply research findings in their ministry.
  • Compile, write, edit and present research findings through a variety of communications methods, such as through presentations, press releases, articles, podcasts, websites, or for use in saleable products, etc

 

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Psychology or similar (PhD preferred)
    • Related work experience may be considered to fulfill education requirement
  • 5 years experience in statistics, market research, survey design, research project management and/or research communications
  • Experience with gathering, mining and manipulating large quantities of data from multiple sources and distilling it into useful, actionable insights
  • Proficiency in data analysis, management and visualization tools such as SAS, SPSS, R, or similar
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel, including formulas, functions, pivots and charts along with ability to deliver clear and clean reports for appropriate levels of leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills
  • Strong time management and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Member of or attending an evangelical Christian church
