The Director of Business Intelligence is responsible for providing leadership in the development and advancement of Business Intelligence strategy, focused on data transformation and cleansing (MDM), data integration, databases, data warehousing, data mining and dimensional modeling, data manipulation, data visualization and reporting, data architecture, and data science. This role will identify current and future data needed to support the organization including governance over the business data and providing business intelligence reporting capabilities to the business. The Director of Business Intelligence is expected to understand the ongoing requirements of our business units and will help evolve our overall Data Strategy, Governance and BI/Analytics/Big Data ecosystem to support new tools and design shifts that enable the business to be successful in a high-growth environment. This includes short and long-term planning, staff management, optimizing processes and technology, and ensuring an appropriate BI/data platform is delivered in a highly distributed, complex business environment. The Director will work closely with business executives, IT architects, and IT leadership in order to understand business requirements, and recommend and deliver analytics solutions to deliver business insights and value.

This role is remote in the U.S with occasional travel to Nashville for in-person team gatherings. 




  • Build strong relationships with key business stakeholders across multiple business units including Marketing, Finance, and various P&Ls and serve as a consultant to help them define department KPIs, provide the user-friendly and convenient BI tools and reports to help them make fact-based decisions.
  • Work with business leadership, IT architectural and supporting teams to understand business requirements, develop an enterprise strategy for Data Platforms, Business Intelligence processes, and methodologies. This strategy includes full data lifecycle management from data inception to data archival spanning the transactional systems to the data warehouse. Develop roadmap to implement this strategy.
  • Define data standards and implement best practices across the organization.
  • Work with business and IT leadership to ensure development of the enterprise data repositories and data stores for lines of business and applications to align with the business objectives and strategies.
  • Direct planning and implementation of enterprise data management programs including Master Data Management, data stewardship, data standardization and the development and maintenance of application data architecture, data models and databases.
  • Oversee the management of the portfolio of data services along with the projects and teams that support these functions (Data scientists, data modelers, development DBAs and ETL developers, API developers). Leverage both full-time resources and outsource partners where applicable.
  • Accountability for team integrity, product excellence, decision making, delivery estimates and roadmaps, career development, client communications, and project outcomes.
  • Manage the service & solution delivery of the company’s enterprise visualization products, including reports and Business Intelligence (BI) applications.
  • Manage the teams responsible for software development and maintenance of data-related services, including data access routines where applicable, which support the development of enterprise applications.
  • Oversee management of a portfolio of enterprise data projects using defined project management methodologies, effective communication with project champions/sponsors, and management of resources and other project constraints. Effectively prioritize and maintain control over project management activities.
  • Develop and establish appropriate operating policies, technology standards and procedures to ensure security policy compliance of enterprise data.
  • Actively participate in both strategic planning and operational activities for enterprise data applications and repositories to manage IT strategic investments, and to effectively set and balance technology priorities and efficient IT operations across the organization.


  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Engineering, MIS or similar technical discipline

  • 8+ years of professional experience in solution delivery, architecture, and people management in the data services domain.

  • 5+ years experience in all areas of the BI Landscape: Data Transformation & Cleansing, Data Integration, Data Marts, Data Warehouse, Data Manipulation, Data Visualization and Reporting, Data mining, Dimensional modeling, and Data science.

  • 5+ years experience with tools to implement BI/Analytics/Big Data solutions – Snowflake cloud data warehouse, Azure Analysis Services, python, PowerBI, Microstrategy.

  • Hands-on experience leading Master Data Management Implementations

  • 5+ years of experience designing, modeling, developing, and implementing enterprise-level data stores in applications and data mart/ data warehouse configurations.

  • 5+ years of experience defining and managing data visualizations using tools and industry standard practices.

  • Experience in large, distributed business environments preferred

  • Software engineering experience including Service Oriented Architecture, n-tier application design, RDBMS implementation, and mobile platform development.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Excellent spoken and written communication as well as receptive listening skills, with the ability to present complex ideas in a clear, concise fashion to non-technical and technical audiences.
  • Impressive presentation skills and experience communicating and convincing audiences from analysts to senior leaders and C-suite.
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of AGILE software development methodologies.
  • Demonstrable experience in full life cycle management of enterprise applications.
  • Implementation of flexible staffing models utilizing both onshore and offshore partners.
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Effectively works in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. 
  • Demonstrable knowledge of formal project management methodologies (PMP preferred).
  • Demonstrable knowledge of ITSM concepts and processes (ITIL certification preferred).
