Lifeway IT has an opportunity for a new Software Development Manager on our Customer Insights team. This individual manages the software development lifecycle for the Customer Insights domain that focuses on building software solutions that compile and synthesize customer data to produce actionable insights. The right candidate will have a passion for working with data and machine learning to help craft delightful experiences that put relevant content in front of the right users to fuel life-changing transformation. The Software Development Manager mentors engineers with a focus on continual growth and development. They champion and collaborate with customer data teams (such as Marketing, Product & Purchasing, Account and Org. Management) to help Lifeway better understand and support our customers fuel their ministries and spiritual journeys. They also plan development work for implementing a CRM and Marketing platform along with future opportunities such as AI insights and suggested next actions.

This role is remote in the U.S with occasional travel to Nashville for in-person team gatherings. 



  • Plans work and monitors performance – Plans projects, meets budget targets and leads workforce. Engages in regular discussion with people as well as keeps tabs on workflow

  • Develops and improves relationships with vendors, suppliers, customers, internal departments, and other associated entities 
  • Collaborates with internal and external departments to accomplish various tasks and projects


  • Bachelor's degree in computer or information technology 
  • 5+ years of experience in information technology with progressive responsibilities 
  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership role in related field 
  • Delegation – lets go of work and reviews assignments and tasks to ensure success 
  • Coaching and feedback – communicates information in a motivating manner. Leads team achievement 
  • Performance measurement – creates an environment of success and measures achievement 
  • Rewards and motivates – actively motivates the team to complete assignments and rewards them when successful. This may be through monetary or intangible means 
  • Effective communication – effectively and consistently communicates to business partners and IT peers verbally and in writing 
  • Tolerates ambiguity - is not task-oriented, but adept at tolerating uncertainty and can still maintain a high level of productivity in the unstable climate 
  • Atlassian Jira Software – performs Scrum Master responsibilities for the team in managing sprints and guiding the backlog refinement, planning and retrospective sessions 
  • Vendor relationship skills - Intermediate 
  • Travel may be expected
