Business Intelligence Data Architect

Lifeway IT is looking for a Business Intelligence Data Architect responsible for planning, coordinating, documenting, designing, and leading activities related to data integration and warehousing to support business intelligence, machine learning, data science, and other organizational initiatives. As a BI Data Architect, you will work closely with end users to understand processes, key performance metrics, and analytics while developing on-going relationships used to understand and resolve problems or design enhancements.

• Create data warehouse models for reporting and analytics through dimensional data models, dimensional matrix, and ETL mapping documentation
• Analyze data structures and identify the sources of incoming data
• Capture and translate business and data requirements into enterprise business intelligence project plans
• Create technical architecture and technical support documentation
• Develop and improve relationships with vendors, suppliers, customers, internal teams, and other associated entities
• Build and maintain all enterprise data models in defined tools (MicroStrategy, SAS, PowerBI)
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems
• Provide project planning outlines, schedules, and workflow processes
• Participate in the evaluation and selection of technologies best fitting the organization and project needs
• Designs test plans, performs unit test, and debug problems

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related degree
• Business intelligence courses or certifications a plus (CBIP, TDWI courses, etc.)
• 3+ years of working technical experience with data architecting, data mining, dimensional data modeling (both snowflake and star schema design), and business requirements gathering/analysis in support of multi-terabyte enterprise-level business intelligence data warehouses
• 3+ years of working technical experience creating reporting tool semantic layer builds including MicroStrategy, SAS, or Power BI

• Experience with relational, multidimensional, and NoSQL databases

• Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices and experience with database platforms including Snowflake and SQL Server

• Proven project management experience with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks

• Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws

• Working knowledge of SDLC (system development life cycle) and change management practices

• Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities including the ability to conduct research into database issues, standards, and products as required

• Strong written and oral communication skills including technical architecture and technical support documentation, strong presentation skills, and the ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
