Overview

Lifeway is hiring a Marketing Strategist to support our B&H Academic team! In this role, you'll  lead the design and execution of marketing strategy, with special attention to book launches, catalog development, cover design, conference planning and representation.

This is a remote position in the U.S. with occasional travel to Nashville for in-person team gatherings. #LI-Remote 

 

Responsibilities

As a Marketing Strategist for B&H Academic you will: 

  • Develop and implement strategic marketing plans and tactics for academic titles according to established marketing templates and in specific ways applicable to each book. 
    • Develop creative and strategic plans with marketing teammates for new promotional endeavors for print and digital resources.
    • Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of marketing strategies and plans, including return on investment (ROI) measures.
    • Presents products to sales teams, and navigates product representation on Lifeway.com, Amazon.com and Christian Book.
    • Seeks and executes ad buys and publicity for both print and digital platforms in order to promote products and increase brand awareness. Facilitates contracts, insertion orders, and invoices as necessary.
  • Manage and execute the B&H Academic annual catalog process, as well as the Academic presence in the trade cycle catalogs. 
  • Manage the cover design process for B&H Academic
    • Facilitate regular cover design meetings with relevant staff to conceptualize design briefs.
    • Communicate design briefs to the art director
    • Act as liaison between authors and designers, bringing together the timely completion of cover designs.
  • Lead the logistical planning, exhibit setup, and procurement of resources for off-site conferences and events. Represent B&H Academic at organizational, academic and theological conferences, campuses and events.
  • Act as contact person for B&H Academic authors to communicate marketing strategy and develop (or vet) marketing ideas according to their platforms, including but not limited to author interviews, publicity management, and author care. 
  • Develop digital concepts aligned with B&H Academic marketing strategy for publicity and advertising platforms, bhacademic.com, and other sales platforms. 
    • Manage the day-to-day upkeep of bhacademic.com, including publication of resources and any updates or specialty landing pages.
    • Set up sales, coupon codes, and landing pages with Lifeway.com as necessary.
    • Create and distribute various assets for online promotion, including product photography, “Look Inside” PDFs, and graphic design suites.
  • Participate in pub boards, cover design meetings, and other conversations related to acquisitions, product design, and positioning. Provide recommendations to departmental leaders based on insight, industry knowledge and trends
  • Oversee the work of outside contract workers who are involved in marketing efforts such as web, design, photography & social media. Work with designers and media team in-house to develop advertising and promotional assets. 
  • Develop and manage B&H Academic marketing finances, determining cost and budget parameters across all marketing initiatives. 

Qualifications

  • Live out Lifeway’s mission and values, showing deep commitment to Kingdom work 
  • Bachelors degree in marketing, theology or similar 
    • Masters-level seminary degree strongly preferred
  • 1 year marketing experience in an agency, corporate or academic environment
  • Experience maintaining social media, blogs or other digital media platforms
  • Strong written and verbal communication, as well as high levels of relationship building skills
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Able to travel occasionally to team gatherings, conferences/events or to universities and seminaries
