Content Editor-Kids Publishing | Remote

Lifeway is seeking a Content Editor that will edit assigned products to ensure the development of trustworthy content that fuels ministry through the local church. The Content Editor ensures biblical accuracy and edits to the Baptist Faith and Message and conservative evangelical theology; ensures instructional soundness and relevance of the content to the target audience; and manages the production cycle of assigned product line and ensures all deadlines are met.

This is a remote position in the U.S. with occasional travel to Nashville for in-person team gatherings. #LI-Remote 

• Lives out Lifeway’s mission and values, showing deep commitment to Kingdom work
• Ensures biblical fidelity by creating trustworthy content in agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message and conservative evangelical theology. Generates original content and significantly rewrites/adapts authors' submissions as needed. 
• Makes copyfitting decisions; responds to appraisal reader evaluations; edits with sensitivity to potentially controversial issues; edits to ensure conservative evangelical theology; receives author submissions and initiates payments; generates original content; applies Lifeway’s style manual and grammar rules to the production of assigned resources; collaborates with other team members to develop a design that equips church leaders to make disciples. 
• Develops relationships with authors and procedure writers to train them and sharpen their skills as they make contributions in leader and learner guide content, articles, and other product features. 
• Regularly engages in conversations with church leaders—listening, encouraging, and discovering church practices—to understand customer needs. 
• Takes the initiative to participate in ongoing training to more fully understand editorial processes, updates to current technologies used, digital delivery of products, and leadership principles. Participates in ongoing team and/or department meetings, plus other duties as assigned. 

Education

Bachelor's degree in English, Theology, Communication, Christian Education, etc.-required

Masters degree in English, Theology, Divinity, Communication, Christian Education, etc.- preferred 

Advanced graduate degree (PhD, etc.)- not required

Skills, Knowledge, & Experiences, required

• Written and verbal communication - Advanced
• Word processing software such as Microsoft Word, Adobe InCopy, etc. - Intermediate
• Ability to create original content - Intermediate
• Experience working with children in the local church – Intermediate

Active membership in a Southern Baptist Church
