Job Overview

B&H Academic is seeking a passionate Summer Intern to join our team. This role is responsible for supporting the strategic acquisition of new titles, cultivating relationships with authors, and assisting in the process of stewarding a book from proposal to publication. The ideal candidate will possess a deep love for Christian scholarship and a keen eye for projects that will equip and serve the church.

 


Internship Program Details & Requirements

  • Compensation: Lifeway’s summer internship program offers a competitive hourly pay rate, and all necessary equipment is provided.
  • Work Schedule: Interns work an average of 32 hours per week, with core workdays from Tuesday to Thursday. The expectation is that the internship is the primary focus during working hours.
  • Program Duration: June 1 - August 14, 2026 (11 weeks). Interns must commit to participating in the entire program.
  • Eligibility: Candidates must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program and have completed at least two years of study by the internship start date. Recent graduates (December 2025 or May 2026) are also eligible.
  • Development Opportunities: Weekly professional development sessions are provided, including specialized training, mentorship, and leadership development.
  • Remote Structure: This is a remote position in the U.S., with required in-person attendance for orientation (June 1 - 4, 2026) and end-of-summer presentations (August 11-14, 2026) in Nashville. Travel costs for these events are covered by Lifeway.
  • Application Deadline: Applications are due by December 31, with interviews beginning as soon as possible. Selections are finalized by April 1.

This is a remote position based in the contiguous 48 United States with occasional travel to Nashville for in-person team gatherings.

Responsibilities

  • Live out Lifeway’s mission and values, showing deep commitment to Kingdom work
  • Serve as a point of contact for proposal submissions, evaluating projects for their scholarly merit, market potential, and alignment with the B&H Academic vision.
  • Potentially pursue and develop strategic relationships with faculty, administrators, and other potential authors. 

  • Content editing and copyediting of manuscripts.• 

  • Present promising book proposals at publishing board meetings.• 

  • Champion acquired books internally and externally.

  • Overnight travel for Orientation, and Final Presentation weeks

Qualifications

Education

Pursuing bachelors in English, Marketing, or Languages 

Christian Ministry or theological education preferred

 

Skills, Knowledge, & Experiences, required

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to assist editors by reading and providing feedback on book proposals and manuscript submissions.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Capable to aid the editorial team in preparing manuscripts for production
  • Experienced in fact-checking, permissions research, and ensuring adherence to house style guidelines
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Word

Actively involved in an evangelical Christian church

 

Skills, Knowledge, & Experiences, preferred 

  • Some experience with Adobe Acrobat• 

  • Been involved with other publishing houses or online content producers.•

  •  Has familiarity with Chicago Manual Style, 18th ed. and Society of Biblical Languages styleguide.•

  •  Has experience in content editing and copyediting.

  • Desire for future publishing career
